Have you read the mystery novel Sherlock Holmes? Holmes is a famous detective in the literary world and is loved by many people around the world. British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created this character in the late 1800s. Since then, Holmes has been featured in TV shows, movies, and on stage. In fact, Guinness World Records has consistently listed Holmes as the “most portrayed movie character” with 75 actors playing the part in more than 210 films. At the 17th Korea Musical Awards제17회 대한민국 뮤지컬 대상 last year, the musical won three awards: Best Musical Award최우수 작품상, Script Award극본상 and Composition Award작곡상. Not surprisingly, due to its popularity, the musical returned to the stage this March. According to officials, its return was possible because of the public’s constant support. The show captivated audiences with its splendid imagery, fantastic sets, and attention to detail.

The musical, which originated from the novel, is set in the 19th century. The story focuses on the murder of the Anderson family. Holmes is portrayed as a cute, flippant detective. What’s interesting about this musical is that Dr. John Watson, Holmes’ best friend and biographer, is featured as a woman. The music is sensual and does a great job at drawing in audience members.

What’s also interesting to note is that Tei, a famous ballad singer, took not just one but two roles in the show. He perfectly played the twin brothers named Eric and Adam of the Anderson family.
