Software mogul Ahn Cheol-soo’s ambitious project and its board members have been recently introduced. Through an official news conference Ahn revealed his charity work, which aims to provide fair job and education opportunities for the younger generation.

“I believe that the right way to donate is not through a vertical system where a high ranking individual mercifully gives his or her assets to those below. Rather it should be a horizontal concept where an individual returns what he or she has received from society to others,” Ahn said. Ahn told reporters that he wishes to foster a positive change in the culture of donation to develop a better society.

Despite the fact that Ahn is the founder and the first member to donate to the foundation, he says his role has ended. Every managerial aspect has been assigned to the board members, and Ahn has decided to not get involved with the foundation directly. The board members will be led by chairwoman Park Young-sook, an 80-year-old feminist and a senior advisor to the Korean Foundation for women. As soon as the conference started, countless reporters anxiously waited for his remarks concerning a possible political career and whether he will be competing in the presidential election in December. Ahn simply replied by saying, “Let’s only discuss about the foundation today.” Interestingly when Ahn was asked about his future career, he answered, “Whether I get involved in politics or not isn’t essential here. I am an individual who wishes to create positive change and lay a developmental role for the society. Perhaps politics may be one of many possible roles.”

It has been officially announced that the foundation will set its strategies similar to two foreign nonprofit organizations, Causes and Kiva. Both organizations are distinctive for motivating countless members from across the world to donate not only money but talent and time through social networking services such as Facebook and Twitter.

What is unique about the newly built foundation is that a new platform of donation will be launched through high-end IT technology. It will allow anyone from anywhere to donate in easy and pleasant ways. Gang Yeong-cheol, the official lawyer of the foundation told reporters that the foundation will enable people to donate with their families and friends anywhere, anytime, and recipients will be able to pay back what they have received to others in need. Ahn has announced that the main focus of the foundation is to create friendship between donators and recipients, promoting equal partnership. A press report confirmed that the foundation will be authorized at the end of March and run as early as April.

모습을 드러낸 안철수 재단

모든 경영적 측면은 이사진에게 배정되고 안철수는 그 재단에 직접적으로 관여하지 않기로 결정했다. 이사진은 페미니스트이자 여성단체협의회 선임조력자 박영숙 이사장에 의해 지휘될 것이다.

기자 회견이 시작하자마자, 수많은 기자들은 가능성 있는 정계와 12월에 있을 대통령 선거에 나올 것인지의 여부와 관련된 그의 발언을 열망하며 기다렸다.

안철수는 “오늘은 재단에 대한 토의만 하겠다,”라고 간단히 대답했다.

두 조직들은 페이스북과 트위터와 같은 소셜 네트워킹 서비스를 통해 돈이 아닌 재능과 시간을 기부하기 위해 전 세계의 수많은 회원들을 자극시키는 것으로 독특하다(차별적이다)할 수 있다.

독특한 점은 이 새로 설립된 재단은 기부의 새로운 발판이 최첨단의 IT 기술을 통해 시작될 것이라는 것이다. 이는 어느 곳의 누군가가 쉽고 즐거운 방법으로 기부하도록 할 것이다.

그 재단의 공식 변호사 강영철은 그 재단은 사람들이 가족과 친구와 함께 어디서든, 언제든 기부를 할 수 있게끔 만들고 받는 사람들은 그들이 받은 것을 도움이 필요한 다른 사람들에게 되돌려줄 수 있을 것이라고 기자들에게 말했다.

안철수는 그 재단의 중점은 기부자와 받는 사람들 간에 우정을 만드는 것이라고 발표했다.

언론에서는 이 재단이 3월 말에 인가될 것이고 빠르면 4월 1일부터 운영할 것임을 공식화했다.
