One day, a Hare met a Tortoise on her way home.

“Hi~, Mr. Torto! Long time no see~. Do you still carry that heavy cover on your back?”

The Hare mocked the Tortoise for his slow manner.

“How slow you are! Why don’t you throw away the shell? Then, you would be much faster when you had to run from your enemies!”

“Hey, Ms. Hare! Good to see you again. The shell on my back is none of your business!” shouted the Tortoise.

“You are such an arrogant creature. I’ll defeat you and show who is superior!” said the Hare.

The Tortoise promptly accepted the challenge.

They began the race. Soon the Hare left the Tortoise way behind. Midway through the race, she became bored and began to snack on some leafy grass.

The noon day sun was glaring in the sky and the Hare grew quite warm.

Seeing she was far ahead, she found a shady spot to rest. However, she went to sleep thinking to herself,

'I can overtake that silly slow Tortoise anytime I please!'

Meanwhile the Tortoise plugged along in his slow way.

The Tortoise saw the Hare sleeping. But the Tortoise just passed the sleeping Hare, and continued his way.

Soon after the Hare woke up, she realized the Tortoise had passed her by.

“Ah~ What happened to me? Oooooooh! What should I do? Wait! Wait~ You, arrogant creature! No… no… no… way! Mr. Torto! No~!”

She took off at full speed, but even running as fast as she could, she could not catch up!

The Tortoise reached the finish line first and won.

The Hare was disappointed of her actions.
