“Give what you can, however little it is, and let it grow from there.” 

 At a glance, 18-year-old Bergen Davis seems like quite the extraordinary teen— homeschooled, state swimming record holder, scholarship nominee, college swim recruitee. However, what truly makes Davis human and relatable is his sincerity and serving heart.
Since he was a little boy, Davis had the heart of a philanthropist. Davis attended church and gave tithes as a child, not looking for credit, but just to give what he had. “Bergen has just always had a heart, I think, for other people and he always reaches out,” told Amy Bowers, Davis’ mother, to JuneauEmpire. Not much changed as Davis grew up. When he was 15-years-old  working as a lifeguard, he would save up money to buy a couple of bags worth of groceries to give out at a local homeless shelter. According to Davis, he wanted to do something rather than “just giving money to church or something like that.” Rather, he sought out to create  meaningful relationships, to foster a more intimate interaction with his actions where he could really see the impact. “It makes it a lot more personal,” he said.
 Currently, Davis is studying business at Oklahoma Christian College but isn’t exactly sure what he wants to do for a career. For now, he’s  still adjusting to the hectic lifestyle of a college freshman and athlete. “It’s the best you can hope for your kids,” Bowers  said, “is for them to grow up and love other people.” And quite truly, that is the case for Bergen Davis.
