On October 2017 at Twinsburg High School, a near-death incident was averted thanks to 17 year-old Nicole Fruscella’s quick thinking and luck. It was just another one of the three days  that Twinsburg Assistant Track Coach Chuck Glover was working out. “I put the weights on the floor and was waiting between sets to start my second set,” told Glover in an interview with Fox 8 News. That was when Glover collapsed, lying unconscious on the floor in the Twinsburg fitness center. Nicole, a student lifeguard at the facility, received an urgent call to come and bring an AED. “We came through [the] doors… and saw him laying here… We got [the AED] ready and we put it on him and we shocked him,” said Nicole. Shortly after, paramedics arrived onto the scene and rushed Glover to the hospital, revealing that he had nearly 100% blockage in a main artery. Following the surgery, it was revealed that less than 5% of all heart attack cases leave its victim unscathed without any brain damage.  It truly was a miracle.
 Now, a year after the incident, the two still use the same facility and have gotten to know each other a lot more. Glover says he’s  been more cognizant of his health. As for Nicole, she is now a senior in high school, still working as the lifeguard at the school fitness center. But  that’s not all. She’s  had greater aspirations for helping others. Since the incident, she’s  started an organization for AEDs, known as AED Angels , to provide AEDs for all facilities.

“Everybody throws the word hero around and hero means different things to different people. She’s beyond [a] hero, she’s an angel… There was an angel sitting on my shoulder that afternoon and her name is Nicole.”
