Recently, adults have claimed that the future of our nation, teenagers are too weak both mentally and physically. They believe the main reasons are: first, teenagers have no difficulties economically, second, the high tech society makes them always comfortable, and third, parents are obsessed with their own social activities so that they don’t give any social guidance or lectures to their kids to live. Thus, training in summer camps operated by the Marine Corps has been in the limelight nowadays because they train teenagers in same ways to the marines. Training the marines is famous for its intensiveness and difficultness. In addition, those camps have been believed as official and licensed. However, it has turned out that’s not true by an accident that recently occurred.

Kongju National University High School sent 198 students in second grade to a summer camp of the Marine Corps from July 17 to 19. Then, during the training session in the ocean, a huge accident occurred on July 18. By 5 and half PM that day, unexpected big waves devoured some of the students and five of them died.

Korea was totally shocked at the news because the truth of the camp turned out that it was not a real Marine Corps operating one but faked. In addition, it was said that the camp has no trained or licensed trainers for the students, especially even the trainer in duty for the accident occurred session could not swim. Moreover, the camp did not prepare any safety and protection equipment including life vests for the participants.

A nationwide big fraud by using passion for education of the Korean parents again was disclosed. Then, who and what killed the pure and innocent five high school students this time? We, the Korean society, need to think about the question and strive to seek the solution together.

최근 어른들은 우리 나라의 미래인 십대들이 정신적∙육체적으로 지나치게 나약하다고 말한다. 그들이 말하는 주요 원인은 첫째 십대들이 경제적 어려움을 모르며 둘째 기술이 발달된 사회에서 살기 때문에 그들이 항상 편하게 살고 있으며 셋째 부모들이 자신들의 사회 활동에 얽매여서 자녀들에게 사회적인 가르침을 주지 못한다는 것이다.

그래서 해병대에서 운영하는 여름 캠프 훈련이 근래 들어 각광받아 왔다. 이러한 캠프에서는 해병대 대원과 같은 방식으로 십대들을 훈련시키기 때문이다. 해병대 훈련은 강도가 높고 고되기로 유명하다. 더욱이 그러한 캠프들은 공식적인 것이고 허가된 것이라는 인식이 있었다. 하지만, 최근 발생한 사고로 인해 그것이 사실이 아님이 드러났다.

공주사대부고는 2학년 생 198명을 7월 17일부터 19일까지 해병대 여름 캠프에 보냈다. 그런데 7월 18일 바다에서의 훈련 도중 엄청난 사고가 일어났다. 그 날 오후 5시 반 경 예상치 못한 큰 파도가 학생들을 덮쳤고 그 중 5명이 사망했다. 이 소식에 대한민국 전체가 충격에 빠졌다.

해당 캠프는 사실 실제 해병대가 운영하는 것이 아닌 가짜 해병대 캠프임이 밝혀졌기 때문이었다. 게다가 그 캠프는 훈련을 받았거나 자격증이 있는 학생 훈련 조교를 보유하지도 않고 있으며 특히 사고가 일어난 훈련을 담당한 조교는 수영도 하지 못 했다.

더구나 그 캠프는 참가자들을 위한 구명 조끼 등과 같은 안전 및 보호 장비도 갖추지 않고 있었다. 한국 부모들의 교육열을 이용한 전국적인 대형 사기극이 밝혀졌다. 그런데, 이번에 저 순진무구한 다섯 명의 고등학생들을 죽인 것은 누구이며 또 무엇일까?

우리 한국 사회는 이 문제에 대해 함께 생각해 보고 해결책을 찾는데 최선의 노력을 다해야 할 것이다.
