Summer comes earlier and stays longer in Korea, thanks to the greenhouse effect.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), during the past decade, the average temperature between May and June has increased by 0.1 °C, from 18.5°C to 18.6°C. Also, the average temperature from late April to mid-May has risen from 15.6°C to 15.7°C. This indicates that summer has been starting earlier and earlier for last decade.

The KMA warned that if we do not put forth the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, there will be serious weather changes due to global warming caused by the greenhouse effect. In particular, if we do not take any action, it will be summer 152 days a year between 2071 and 2100.

온실가스 감소 위한 대책 마련 시급  
 
한국의 여름이 점점 빨라지고 길어지고 있다. 모두 온실가스 효과 때문이다.

기상청에 따르면 지난 10년간 5월과 6월의 평균 기온이 0.1도 상승한 18.5도에서 18.6도였다고 한다. 또한 4월 후반과 5월 중순 사이의 평균기온도 15.6도에서 15.7도로 0.1도 상승했다. 이는 지난 10년 동안 여름이 찾아오는 속도가 빨라졌다는 것을 나타낸다.

기상청은 우리가 온실가스 배출을 줄이기 위한 노력을 기울이지 않는다면, 온실가스 효과로 야기된 지구 온난화의 여파로 심각한 기상이변을 겪게 될 거라고 경고한다. 특히 우리가 아무런 조치를 취하지 않는다면, 2071년부터 2100년까지 1년 중 152일이 여름이 될 것이다
