Bullying has been around for a very long time. Over the years, however, how people bully others has changed. Today, more students are bullied on cyberspace than they are face-to-face. One of the worst social networking sites for bullying is Facebook, according to a recent survey.

Of those teenagers who said they had been bullied on cyberspace before, more than 80% said the bullying happened on Facebook. 19-year-old boys were bullied the most, followed by 18-year-old girls.

Nearly 70% of teenagers said they had experienced cyber bullying or know someone who had. Furthermore, 34% of teenagers said their experience of cyber bullying lasted more than a month.

In contrast, very few teenagers said they would tell a parent or a teacher about their experiences of being bullied. It seems more needs to be done to keep teenagers safe both on and off cyberspace.

왕따 문제는 오래 전부터 있어왔다. 단지 왕따 시키는 방법만 변할 뿐이다. 현재 학생들 사이에서 직접 왕따 시키는 것 보다는 인터넷 상 사이버 공간에서 집단 폭행이 일어나는 경우가 더 흔하다. 최근 설문조사에 의하면 SNS 가운데 왕따 문제가 가장 심각한 곳은 페이스북이다.

사이버 공간 속 집단 폭행의 피해자인 청소년 중 80%는 페이스북에서 따돌림이 일어났다고 말했다. 피해자 가운데 19세 남성의 수가 제일 많았으며, 18세 여성 피해자수가 그 다음으로 많았다. 청소년 70%는 사이버 따돌림을 겪은 경험이 있거나 또한 사이버 따돌림을 겪었던 지인을 알고 있다고 전했다. 더 나아가 청소년 34%가 사이버 따돌림을 한달 이상 지속적으로 당했다고 한다.

이 반면 극소수의 청소년만이 사이버 따돌림을 당했다는 사실을 부모나 선생님에게 밝히겠다고 전했다. 이번 조사는 청소년 집단 폭행의 문제에 대한 대책이 절실하게 필요하다는 사실을 알리고 있다.
