Global Weather
While climate change is still an issue and will continue to be until governments get more serious about greenhouse emissions, next year has been forecast to be calmer and much more predictable. This will be a lot better for farmers and will hopefully avoid issues like the lack of napa cabbages that led to the kimchi shortage earlier this year.

Technology
This year saw the rise of the tablets such as the iPad and next year will be crucial for the continued development of tablet technology, with new designs and companies coming in. IT analysts are expecting to see refinements and more complex applications such as games and work tools coming out and more tablet products on the market for cheaper prices compared to the slightly older smartphone market. It is also thought that while android products will do well they won’t be able to knock the iPad off the top spot.

World
Tensions between China and the U.S. can be expected to continue while Europe will no doubt continue to have serious economic woes. Cuba, Iran and North Korea will cause international incidents to keep the global media busy, while tensions in developing nations such as the Sudan will present humanitarian crises that will need prompt responses. There is also the dangerous possibility that the dim witted former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, will make a U.S. presidential bid.

The Nation
While other nations are struggling with the economic downturn the nation is expected to continue to see economic growth, with Korea’s GDP expected to rise above $20,000 per capita. Meanwhile, the nation will no doubt have more issues to deal with in terms of Asian politics as China, Japan and North Korea will all present their various opportunities and obstacles. Meanwhile the F.T.A.s with foreign nations including the U.S. will no doubt require some expert diplomacy. Finally, there is the question of whether President Lee Myung-Bak will be able to maintain his unexpectedly high approval ratings.
