The education support district office of Bukbu held a summer math camp for 60 students from the Gifted Education Center from July 21 to July 23. The camp was held at CheongShim International Youth Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do. Students were able to experience many things related to math and science.

The purpose of this camp was to hone leadership abilities and develop personality. It also focused on research skills and creativity through teamwork and group activities. During the camp, students solved mental puzzles and quizzes for personal development, made dominoes to develop a sense of community, and climbed a rock wall to explore their personalities. Students also enjoyed other activities such as wake-boarding and water-skiing. They were excited to try out new water sports, which also gave them the opportunity to cool off from the summer heat.

Students at the camp also tackled the daunting challenge of climbing an artificial rock wall located inside the Cheongshim International Youth Center. Initially, most students thought the climb was an easy task, but many found that without an unwavering concentration and an indomitable will, they would never succeed in conquering the wall. Though many students were unable to reach the top, each gave their best effort.

Finally, the students were divided into teams according to grade to participate in the dominoes activity. Each team was instructed to create an immense shape using dominoes. With collective concentration and group dynamics, a 3rd grade team was able to complete their activity together. At the end, the students learned that an overwhelming task is best done together rather than alone.
One of the teachers leading the camp, Mr. Noh Sol, offered some words to wisdom to the students. He said that the present is the most important time.

Seo-hyun Choi, a middle school student at Cheongwon, left the camp with a new-found wisdom. She said she realized that the community is an imperative part in everyone’s lives and that it’s important for everyone to learn how to communicate and work together. She also learned the importance of new challenges and understands that she can utilize what she has learned at the camp as a student.
This camp was not only an opportunity for students to relieve the stress accumulated from their grueling school year, but also a chance for students to develop and hone their abilities to work together as a community. Now, students understand that together, they can face and conquer any challenge. Knowing this, students feel that this program should not only be available to gifted students but to all students as an outlet for stress and a chance to grow together.


아주 특별한 여름 캠프

북부교육지원청은 7월 21일부터 7월 23일까지 영재교육센터에서 60명의 학생들을 위한 여름 수학 캠프를 열었다. 캠프는 경기도 가평 청심 국제 청소년 수련원에서 열렸다.학생들은 수학 과학과 관련된 많은 것들을 경험할 수 있었다.

이 캠프의 목적은 리더십을 연마하고 인격을 개발하는 것이다. 그것은 또한 팀워크와 그룹 활동을 통한 연구 기술과 창의성에 초점을 맞추었다.

끝으로, 학생들은 학년에 따라 여러 팀으로 나누어져 도미노 게임을 했다. 각각의 팀은 도미노를 이용해 커다란 모양을 만들어냈다. 공동의 집중력과 그룹 원동력으로, 3학년 팀이 작업을 완성할 수 있었다. 끝으로, 학생들은 혼자 보다는 같이 할 때 많은 일을 할 수 있다는 것을 배웠다.

캠프를 주관한 선생님 중 한명인 Noh Sol 선생님은 학생들에게 지혜로운 말씀을 해 주셨다. 그는 현재가 가장 중요한 시간이라고 말했다.

청원의 최서현이라는 중학생은 새로운 지혜를 발견했다. 공동체는 모든 사람의 삶에서 중요하며 모든 사람들이 의사소통하고 함께 일하는 것을 배우는 것은 중요하다는 것을 알게 됐다고 그녀는 말했다.

그녀는 또한 새로운 도전의 중요성을 배웠고 캠프에서 학생으로서 배운 것을 이용할 수 있다는 것을 배웠다.

이번 캠프는 학생들에게 학교에서 받은 스트레스를 풀 수 있는 기회였을 뿐만 아니라, 공동체에서 함께 일할 능력을 연마하고 개발시킬 수 있는 기회이기도 했다.

현재, 학생들은 함께라면 어떠한 도전도 직면해 해결할 수 있다는 것을 알게 됐다. 이 때문에, 학생들은 이 프로그램이 영재들만 사용할 수 있는 것이 아니라 모든 학생들에게 스트레스를 발산 할 수 있는 수단으로 그리고 같이 성장할 수 있는 기회로 이용가능 해야 한다고 생각한다.
